Replica Tigarang by Highland Fling Boomerangs – Herb Smith’s Range
Herb Smith, a boomerang designer, maker and thrower, on the 17th June 1972 gained the world record of 108 yards for the longest returning throw. He is regarded as the founder of long distance boomerang throwing. He sadly died from cancer in 1995 and is greatly missed.
He had gifted us five of his personally inscribed originals, we believe made around 1972, and after meeting with Mrs Herb Smith make replicas. Each is hand crafted, as were Herb’s, so slight variations are inevitable. Made in the same birch ply all carry significant amounts of lead and are challenging to throw.
Herb’s hand written notes as attached to the original boomerang:-
Tigarang “This model has reached 110 yards thrown against a breeze of 5 mph”
You can see the original next to this reproduction in one of the photos.
Remember that boomerangs were developed by aborigines to fell prey and can cause serious injury.
