IQ wooden model sailing dinghy kit. This 3D model boat kit is made from laser cut wood and requires glue for construction. Glue is not supplied. Made from balsa wood, it is very light weight. This model boat has with some moving parts and sails. This self assembly (DIY) model puzzle kit is moderately difficult to build and will need patience and care. Instructions included (a translated copy of the instructions can be seen in one of our images).
Sold unassembled, this model is best suited to the more experienced modelmaking hobbyist. Although quite a simple model, it is fairly challenging to build, with a recommended minimum age of 14 years. This would make a fun but demanding cooperative build for adults to complete with younger children, but be aware that some parts are very fragile.
An ideal gift for adults and older children. Adult assistance and supervision definitely recommended for younger children.

Notes from Skilltoyz: A suitable glue is required to complete this model. A waterproof PVA wood glue should work well. The wood is pre-cut, but some parts may need to be cut or trimmed to fit and a sharp craft knife would be very useful. If you do use a modelling knife please use with care! You may need to clamp or tape parts into place while the glue sets (masking tape can work well, and elastic bands can help). Some of the wooden parts are very fragile, please be gentle and careful when pushing out the pre cut parts so they do not break. Fine sandpaper (not supplied) can be used to smooth any rough edges if required, but this is not essential. Some wood parts may need to be steamed or soaked in hot water to get the wood pliable for bends.
This is not intended as a "working" sailboat. But for those keen to set it sail in the bath or local pond, it might be possible to add ballast to this model to make it float. I have not tested this possibility!
