IQ wooden model sail boat kit. This 1:30 scale 3D model sailing yacht kit is made from laser cut wood and requires glue for construction. Glue is not supplied. This self assembly (DIY) model puzzle kit is difficult to build and will need patience and care. Instructions included as a schematic.
Sold unassembled, this model is best suited to the more experienced modelmaking hobbyist. Although quite a relatively simple model, it is fairly challenging to build, with a recommended minimum age of 14 years. This would make a fun but demanding cooperative build for adults to complete with older children, but be aware that some parts are very fragile.
An ideal gift for adults and older children. Adult assistance and supervision definitely recommended.

Notes from Skilltoyz: A suitable glue is required to complete this model. A waterproof PVA wood glue should work well. The wood is pre-cut, but some parts may need to be cut or trimmed to fit and a sharp craft knife would be very useful. If you do use a modelling knife please use with care! You may need to clamp or tape parts into place while the glue sets (masking tape can work well, and elastic bands can help). Some of the wooden parts are very fragile, please be gentle and careful when pushing out the pre cut parts so they do not break. Fine sandpaper (not supplied) can be used to smooth any rough edges if required, but this is not essential. Some wood parts may need to be steamed or soaked in hot water to get the wood pliable for bends.
