IQ Wooden 3D complex laser cut model kit of the 1903 Wright Brothers "Wright Flyer" aeroplane. After years of research and development, Wilbur and Orville Wright created the first successful powered airplane, which first flew at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina in 1903. This self assembly (DIY) model puzzle kit has a large number of pieces and is challenging to build. Instructions included. Some parts are very small and fragile.
Sold unassembled, this complex model is intended for the more experienced modelmaker hobbyist. It is challenging to build, with a recommended minimum age of 14 years. This would make a fun but demanding cooperative build for adults to complete with older children, but be aware that some parts are very fragile.
An ideal gift for adults.
Recommended for the build (not included):
Wood glue (optional)
Sharp knife
Sandpaper
Clamps/masking tape/elastic bands
Tweezers
Steady hands and patience!
Notes from Skilltoyz: Wood glue can be used if parts are loose or if a more permanent and rigid construction is desired (glue not supplied). A PVA wood glue should work well. The wood is pre-cut, but some parts may need to be cut or trimmed to fit and a sharp craft knife would be very useful. If you do use a modelling knife please use with care! You may need to clamp or tape parts into place while the glue sets (masking tape can work well, and elastic bands can help). Some of the wooden parts are very fragile, please be gentle and careful when pushing out the pre cut parts so they do not break. If necessary, use a craft knife to help release any parts that will not come out easily. Fine sandpaper (not supplied) can be used to smooth any rough edges if required, but this is not essential.
